KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan MRCB has contributed Braillers to the blind students and funded repairs to ceiling leakages amounting to RM40,000 at the blind school, SK Pendidikan Khas Jalan Batu, Kuala Lumpur.

Trustees of Yayasan MRCB, Datuk Shamrat Sen Gupta and Dr. Mohamed Rafick Khan handed over the Braillers to the blind students, witnessed by the students’ parents and teachers in a simple ceremony at the school recently.

“With the Braillers contribution, we hope that these blind students will not only be able to do their assignments at school but continue to do their homework at home. Prior to this, the students had to share Braillers in the school only”, said Datuk Shamrat.

As a long-term effort to sustain its programmes, Yayasan MRCB will also be organising a fundraising event this year through a charity concert titled “Yannick Bovy celebrates 100 Years of Nat King Cole”. The concert will be held on 5 October 2019 at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.

Yayasan MRCB encourages the public to participate in contributing towards this fundraising event.

In August 2019, Yayasan MRCB organised several UPSR clinics for over 600 underprivileged students involving seven of the foundation’s adopted schools in four states of Perak, Selangor, Penang and Federal Territories.

The foundation has also launched a one-year meal programme amounting to RM231,000 for 384 less fortunate students from 12 schools in five states of Federal Territories, Penang, Selangor, Perak and Johor in June 2019.

Other impactful activities include contribution of books and calculators to 600 students, donations to 100 less fortunate families in Langkawi, conducting educational programmes for Orang Asli children, providing mobile clinics for the Orang Asli, providing temporary accommodation for those caring for family members with prolonged illnesses, as well as refurbishing schools for special needs children.

To-date, Yayasan MRCB has contributed more than RM1 million to assist underprivileged students and less fortunate communities across Malaysia.
