Three killed, two seriously hurt in Kuala Berang crash

KUALA BERANG: Three people were killed and two others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a Toyota Vios and a trailer lorry at Km42 of Jalan Kuala Jeneris-Sungai Gawi (Aring), last night.

The dead have been identified as the driver of the Vios, Noriskandar Muzafar, 33; and passengers Wan Ahmad Adam Murshidy Wan Rosli, 24; and Zulkarnain Buniyami, 18. All three died at the site.

Two other passengers – Afif Safwan Mohd Zuki, 21 and Mohamad Rusydi Md Said, 26 – were severely injured and are being treated at the Hulu Terengganu Hospital.

The group was en route from Bera, Pahang to Perak when the accident occurred at 7.30pm.

The Toyota Vios is believed to have skidded after going over a puddle, and veered into the opposite lane before crashing into the trailer lorry, which was headed from Gua Musang, Kelantan to Pelabuhan Gebeng, Kuantan, Pahang.

Hulu Terengganu police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohd Adli Mat Daud said the victims' bodies were taken to the Forensics Unit of the Hulu Terengganu Hospital for post-mortems; and that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
