Noor Hisham: Infectivity rate gone up again

KUALA LUMPUR: The national infectivity rate, or R-naught (Rt) has gone up again.

As of today, the Rt is at 1.08, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today in a late tweet tonight.

The rate was at 1.07 yesterday.

Nine states/federal territories recorded Rt levels above 1.0, with Putrajaya overtaking Pahang at the top.

The federal administrative capital recorded 1.25, with Pahang dropping from 1.24 yesterday to 1.18 today. This was closely followed by Kuala Lumpur at 1.16, Selangor (1.12); Kedah (1.11); Melaka (1.08); Sabah (1.04); Penang (1.03); and, Negri Sembilan (1.01).

The new Rt level comes on the back of the daily infection numbers rising to 7,654 cases as of noon today.

The Klang Valley accounted for about 63 per cent of the total cases, with Selangor recording 3,260, Kuala Lumpur 1,550 and Putrajaya 33.
