KOTA BARU: More than 120,000 individuals in Kelantan have undergone screening tests for Covid-19.

Kelantan Health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin said the individuals were tested separately in checks which began last year.

He said the tests were conducted at several hospitals and health clinics state-wide.

Dr Zaini said lorry drivers topped the list of individuals screened at 36,358, followed by outsiders with high risk (14,552) and those under surveillance (11,910).

"Others include prisoners, oil and gas offshore workers, and close contacts of positive patients and clusters.

"Health officers will continue to carry out tests from time to time, especially on those with symptoms," he said.

Meanwhile, many locals continue to flout the standard operating procedures (SOP).

Checks in the town area here showed many buyers at foodstalls along the main road not wearing face masks.

They also failed to practice physical distancing, despite repeated warnings from the relevant authorities.
