MATRADE, MEDAC and SME Bank collaborate to bring 12 SMEs on export mission to Manila
Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is collaborating with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) and SME Bank to organise an Export Acceleration Mission (EAM) to Manila, the Philippines from Aug 22-26, 2022.
马来西亚对外贸易发展公司（MATRADE）与企业家发展与合作部（MEDAC）和中小企业银行合作，于2022年 8 月 22 日至 26 日在菲律宾马尼拉组织出口加速任务（EAM）。
MATRADE said the mission, which would involve the participation of 12 Malaysian companies, is an effort to support Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for business recovery in the endemic phase.
MATRADE 表示，该任务将涉及 12 家马来西亚公司的参与，旨在支持马来西亚中小型企业（SME）在流行阶段恢复业务。
In a statement on 18 Aug, the corporation said this year that it continues to establish and leverage strategic collaborations with various ministries, agencies, foreign embassies and trade industry associations in implementing export-related programmes to create more opportunities for Malaysian business communities.

“The strategic collaboration between MATRADE, MEDAC and SME Bank signifies the importance of synergy within the trade ecosystem in strengthening Malaysia’s trade competitiveness, as recommended by the National Trade Blueprint (NTBp), " said deputy chief executive officer (exporters development) Abu Bakar Yusof.
“根据国家贸易蓝图（NTBp）的建议，MATRADE、MEDAC 和中小企业银行之间的战略合作表明了贸易生态系统内协同作用对加强马来西亚贸易竞争力的重要性，”副首席执行官（出口商发展）阿布巴卡尔尤索夫说.
The five-year (2021-2025) blueprint was launched in October 2021 by the prime minister, with the aim of positioning Malaysia as a dynamic and pre-eminent trading nation through sustainable export development and promotion.
五年（2021-2025）蓝图由首相于 2021 年 10 月启动，旨在通过可持续出口发展和促进将马来西亚定位为一个充满活力和卓越的贸易国。
MATRADE noted that as one of Malaysia’s important export destinations in Asean, the Philippines offers significant export opportunities for a wide range of industries.

For the period of January to June 2022, Malaysia’s exports to the Philippines registered a growth of 29.5% to RM13.85 billion, from RM10.69 billion during the corresponding period last year.
在 2022 年 1 月至 2022 年 6 月期间，马来西亚对菲律宾的出口从去年同期的 106.9 亿令吉增长 29.5% 至 138.5 亿令吉。
For the year 2021, the Philippines ranked as Malaysia’s 5th largest export destination within Asean, with total exports amounting to RM22.63 billion, an expansion of 28.5% compared to 2020.
2021年，菲律宾是马来西亚在东盟内的第五大出口目的地，出口总额达226亿3000万令吉，较2020年增长28.5%。
Meanwhile, according to MATRADE, the e-commerce market in the Philippines has also seen robust growth, reaching US$17 billion in sales in 2021, mainly contributed by 73 million active online users and this figure is expected to reach US$24 billion, with 17% growth through 2025.
同时，根据 MATRADE 的数据，菲律宾的电子商务市场也出现了强劲增长，2021 年销售额达到 170 亿美元，主要由 7300 万活跃在线用户贡献，预计这一数字将达到 240 亿美元，其中 17到 2025 年的增长率。
The Covid-19 pandemic has further accelerated e-commerce growth as Filipinos work and study at home, and this showed huge potential for Malaysia to continue expanding its presence in the Philippines market, it said.

“This initiative is timely, as there is a rising demand driven by the rise of e-commerce and the Philippines’ large consumer base. This makes the Philippines an interesting destination for Malaysian companies to expand their global footprint,” Abu Bakar added.
