Haze update: Sri Aman air quality 'hazardous' again; no breather for Peninsula

1

KUALA LUMPUR: The haze continues its grip on much of Malaysia.

In Sarawak, the air quality in four areas remains at a “very unhealthy” level; while the air pollution in Sri Aman has reverted to the “hazardous” level. The city’s Air Pollutant Index (API) at 7am stood at 362.

Four other cities in the East Malaysia state recorded “unhealthy” API numbers this morning.

Meanwhile, the RMAF said it will be conducting cloud seeding operations for two days from today (Aug 20) over areas worst-hit by the haze, Bernama reported.

In Peninsular Malaysia, 19 locations are experiencing “unhealthy” air quality, with the highest reading recorded in Tasek Ipoh, Perak at 161.

According to the Asean Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC), prevailing winds are continuing to blow moderate-to-dense smoke from forest fire hotspots from Sumatra towards Peninsular Malaysia, and from Kalimantan towards western Sarawak.
