Four Malaysian universities sign TVET LOI in China

Four universities under the Malaysian Technical University (MTU) network signed a letter of intent (LOI) related to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) with the Guizhou Institute of Technology (GIT), located in Southwest China.

马来西亚技术大学 (MTU) 网络下的四所大学与位于中国西南的贵州理工学院 (GIT) 签署了与技术和职业教育与培训 (TVET) 相关的意向书 (LOI)。

In a statement, Education Malaysia Beijing (EMB) said the universities, namely Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), each signed a LOI.

马来西亚教育北京（EMB）在一份声明中表示，Universiti Malaysia Perlis（UniMAP）、Universiti Malaysia Pahang（UMP）、Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia（UTHM）Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka（UTeM）均签署了意向书.

The LOI was signed at the Second Malaysia-China (Guizhou) Education Cooperation Forum, organised by EMB in collaboration with MTU and GIT, in conjunction with the China ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW) in Guiyang, China recently.

该意向书是在第二届马中（贵州）教育合作论坛上签署的，该论坛由 EMB 与 MTU 和 GIT 合作举办，并于最近在中国贵阳举行的中国东盟教育合作周（CAECW）上举行。

Also in attendance at the forum were the consul-general of Malaysia in Nanning, Azlimi Zakaria and EMB acting director Jason Choy Min Seng.

According to the EMB statement, each party will take the necessary steps to encourage cooperation such as in the academic field which includes student and academic staff exchange programmes, in addition to research cooperation.

GIT is a polytechnic that focuses on engineering to revitalise the industry and urbanise Guizhou Province, with about 13,000 full-time undergraduate students.

GIT是一所以工程振兴工业和城市化贵州省为重点的理工学院，拥有约13,000名全日制本科生。

Recently, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said Malaysia hopes to strengthen the cooperation between government agencies and industry players, and the Chinese government to improve TVET among the two countries.

最近，高等教育部长拿督斯里Noraini Ahmad博士表示，马来西亚希望加强政府机构和行业参与者以及中国政府之间的合作，以改善两国之间的职业技术教育与培训。

She also said the cooperation between Malaysian industries and China plays a vital role in providing work experience to many TVET students and graduates, considering it has great potential to produce an efficient workforce.
