Covid-19: PM to announce more assistance today

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will make a special announcement on more comprehensive forms of assistance for those affected by the movement control, at 5pm today.

The announcement - Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi (Pemulih) - will be aired on RTM, Bernama TV, TV3, Astro Awani and TV AlHijrah.

Yesterday, Muhyiddin said he would be announcing the details of the assistance which would cover various groups, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Pemulih, the eighth assistance package since the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, is aimed at safeguarding the people's welfare and supporting business continuity.

Malaysia is currently in Phase One of the Movement Control under the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

Phase One had to be extended as the number of Covid-19 cases had yet to dip below the threshold value of 4,000 required to move to the next phase.
