MUAR: The quaint royal town of Muar has never ceased to surprise and amaze visitors with its uniqueness and attractions.

One such attraction is a half-acre deer farm at Sabak Awor, close to town.

A trip here promises close encounters with more than 100 deers.

While one might expect the place to have a strong odour, this deer farm is surprisingly clean unlike most other breeding stables or farms.

"We specialize in breeding and most of our customers come to us for normal or cross breed live stock," said farm supervisor Firdaus Abdullah.

Firdaus has been working at the farm alongside its owner Adam Mohamed since the deer farm started.

Sure Jade deer farm welcomes visitors who wish to get up close with these friendly deers.

Currently, the farm supplies meat and deer skin as added income, apart from preparing fresh meals for visitors.

One can also purchase marinated or fresh deer meat (subject to availability).

Muar folks can be proud of successful entrepreneurs like Adam who took a calculated risk to start breeding deers instead of the more traditional cattle or goats.

Writer's note: Deer me! This is an exciting and unique escapade for those wanting to have fun with family and friends while in Muar.
