5 nations pen agreements on defence, food security, media at KL Summit

KUALA LUMPUR: Five countries signed five agreements at the Kuala Lumpur Summit 2019 which was launched today.

The exchange of documents pertained to cooperation in the areas of media, centres of excellence, youth exchange, food security as well as defence and security.

For food security, the agreement involved Felcra Bhd and one of Qatar’s largest livestock and dairy farm owners, Baladna Food Industries.

Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), meanwhile, exchanged documents of agreement with Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI); International Centre for Chemical and Biological Studies (ICCBS), Pakistan; as well as The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Tubitak).

In the defence and security sector, the document exchange involved aerospace components manufacturer Composites Technology Research Malaysia Sdn Bhd (CTRM) and Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

The exchange of documents for youth exchange involved Turkey, Malaysia and Indonesia. However, the details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Malaysia and Turkey also exchanged documents on combating Islamophobia.
