Tengku Zafrul: Transformation programme lifts market capitalisation of 20 GLCs to RM386b
The transformation programme for government-linked companies (GLCs) has lifted the market capitalisation of 20 selected GLCs 2.9 times to RM386 billion in 10 years, said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
财政部长Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz表示，政府关联公司（GLCs）的转型计划已使20家精选GLC的市值在10年内提高了2.9倍，达到3860亿令吉。
The programme also increased the net revenue of GLCs to RM26.2 billion annually, besides giving shareholders a return of 11.1% a year.
该计划还将GLC的净收入增加到每年262亿令吉，此外每年为股东提供11.1%的回报。
Tengku Zafrul said considering the size of and influence of the GLC ecosystem in the socio-economic development of the country, it is appropriate that government-linked investment companies (GLICs) continue to be improved.

“The government has been striving to sharpen the focus of GLICs, especially in new industries related to Industry Revolution 4.0.

“The effort to improve will be implemented by listed GLCs through the PLC Transformation Programme which I launched on 2nd March," he said at the launching of the GLC Open Day here on 11th March at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Meanwhile, Tengku Zafrul said the entry of Malaysia into the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) from 18th March is expected to expand the country's exports to RM44 billion annually.

The unemployment rate has also shown improvement at 4.2% recorded in January 2022, a decline of 1.1% to 680,400 people compared to 687,600 in December 2021.

“Foreign investors have invested RM3.5 billion in the domestic bond market in January, and RM3.6 billion in local equities to date," he added.
