Pahang sees more flood evacuees; Bentong recovering

KUANTAN: As Bentong fully recovers from the monsoon floods, the number of flood victims in Pahang has seen a slight increase compared to yesterday.
Three flood relief centres in Bentong were closed last night when the remaining 116 victims were allowed to return home.
As of 9pm, the number of flood victims in the state rose to 19,523 people from 5,200 families compared to 18,535 from 4,917 families last night.
Maran remains the worst-hit district with 4,492 victims from 1,242 families at 38 relief centres, followed by Temerloh with 3,383 victims from 901 families in 46 relief centres while Lipis has 2,551 victims from 675 families at 40 evacuation centres.Kuantan has 2,527 evacuees from 679 families remaining at 21 relief centres followed by Raub (2,402), Jerantut (2,316), Rompin (1,012), Pekan (430) and Bera (410).
Meanwhile, heavy downpours in Kuantan since last night has triggered some concerns over rising water levels in certain areas which had been inundated.
Checks revealed the stretch near Darul Makmur Stadium, Sungai Isap and Widad University College junction in Indera Mahkota were flooded since early this morning.
