Over 60k checks conducted on RMCO compliance

KUALA LUMPUR: Police carried out 65,283 inspections up to yesterday to monitor and enforce the Recovery Movement Control Order's (RMCO) standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance.
Senior Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 2,749 compliance team comprised of 13,471 personnel conducted inspections at 4,211 supermarkets, 6,110 restaurants, 2,120 traders, 1,091 factories, 3,773 banks, and 863 government offices.
"The task force also did checks at 1,243 land transportation terminal, 322 water transportation terminal, and 99 air transportation terminal.
"From the overall inspections, the police have arrested and issued compounds against three individuals for disobeying the RMCO including activities that violate the SOP," he said in a statement.
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said five foreign nationals had been arrested by the police at roadblocks for immigration related offences.
He said the police had conducted 67 Ops Benteng roadblocks nationwide and inspected 44,028 vehicles to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants, especially at rat lanes.
