Restoration of water supply at 98.4 per cent

KUALA LUMPUR: Efforts to restore water supply to over 300,000 accounts Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang are 98.4 per cent complete as at 6am today.
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), in a statement, said in Petaling, the restoration progress stood at 97.3 percent, Sepang and Putrajaya (99.1 per cent), Hulu Langat (98.8 per cent) and Kuala Langat (100 per cent), after Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant resumed its operation since 1pm on Monday.
The statement said Air Selangor would continue to mobilise its water tankers, PKS and public taps to ensure that affected residents have adequate water supply.

On Saturday, the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant was forced to be shut down completely due to odour pollution. It was caused by irresponsible people disposing illegal waste with solvent odour at the inlet around the Indah Water Konsortium's plant.
Following the closure, 366 areas with 328,957 consumer accounts in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, and Sepang were affected.
